Voltage Optimisation for Reducing Energy Costs in the Hospitality Industry
Voltage Optimisation (VO) has been used extensively in the hospitality industry for a number of years to reduce energy costs on-site. Because of the steady nature of hotel consumption, VO tends to provide steady and consistent savings in comparison to other industries where savings can fluctuate in line with large increases and decreases in usage.
Whilst there is a difference in savings across all electrical equipment based on its voltage dependency, VO tends to make consistently high savings on equipment such as fridges, freezers, beer chillers & and compressors, and beer pumps.
Whilst VO does not make a saving on LED lighting, it does help to protect the equipment and make it last longer, with an increase in the equipment lifespan of up to 46%, as stated by (UK wiring regs BS7671).
Calculating a hotel savings for VO is a fairly straightforward process, our technical team completes a full on-site technical survey, to confirm the exact savings made at any particular site.

Westmont Hospitality Group Reduces Energy Annual Spend by £418K Via Voltage Optimisation
One of our most recent voltage optimisation projects in the hotel industry was with Westmont Hospitality Group, which is an owner and operator of Hotels around the globe.
Westmont operates over 250 hotels in almost every country in Europe, they currently operate internationally under franchise agreements for hotel brands such as Hilton, IHG and Marriot.
Westmont hotels chose Powerdown220 to install voltage optimisation across a selection of five of their UK hotels. As part of the project we installed a voltage optimiser in:

The Mere Golf Resort Saves on Energy with Voltage Company Powerdown
Mere Hotel, Golf Resort and Spa, near Knutsford, Cheshire approached Powerdown to find ways of reducing their energy bills and carbon footprint, by improving energy efficiency
At the start of our conversations, we were advised that over 1500 LED light bulbs had been changed in the previous 12-month period.
It quickly became clear that voltages of around 250V were having a significant effect on the working life of these bulbs, and causing them to blow frequently.
Since we installed the voltage optimiser, The Mere are only replacing a tiny percentage of their light bulbs annually compared to pre optimised voltage.
