Voltage Stabilisation

VOLTAGE STABILISATION

Voltage stabilisation, also known as voltage regulation, is a technology used to maintain a consistent and steady voltage output regardless of fluctuations in the incoming voltage from the electrical grid. Its primary purpose is to safeguard sensitive electrical equipment from the harmful effects of voltage fluctuations, such as surges, sags and spikes. These fluctuations can occur due to various factors, including changes in electricity demand, power surges, or faults in the electrical grid.

Fixed Intelligent Reduction (DS Range)

Our DS Range combine the latest advancements in power electronics and our tried and tested robust design principles to deliver unparalleled reliability and exceptional performance at an attractive price point. In addition to optimising your voltage, the DS Range, though independent dynamic voltage stabilisation of all three phases, improves the quality of the testcodepower supplied to your equipment.

To efficiently make use of the rapid deployment of renewable generation, the National Grid electricity distribution network is being upgraded. ‘Smart Grid’ as it is referred to, uses intelligent technologies to manage the electrical network by integrating all users and forms of generation connected to it, with the sole purpose of distributing, in the most efficient way possible, the power that is generated. Due to the uncertainty of fluctuating demand, the availability of renewable generation and ever-increasing complexity of the distribution network, periods of grid instability, damaging power quality disturbances and distortion are becoming more frequent.

The unique asymmetric voltage correction range of the DS Range allows it to deliver a stable optimised output voltage regardless of fluctuations in the grid supply voltage. The DS range can reduce grid voltage by 10% and “boost” it by up to 3% to maintain a smooth stable power supply, allowing any sensitive equipment to ‘ride through’ voltage dips and ‘Brownouts’. The unprecedented level of voltage control makes the DS Range ideal for sites experiencing poor power quality which often cause issues with sensitive equipment like, UPS systems, microprocessor, PLC and process control systems, servo drives, lasers, electronic circuit boards, robots, etc. In the service sector too, there are significant problems due to power quality; service interruptions, failures, anomalies in the electrical equipment and electronic devices and data loss, are just some examples.

All models in the DS Range provide high speed voltage correction over a wide voltage range, +3/-10% to delivers high accuracy +/- 1% of the user the defined target voltage, real time, independent voltage stabilisation of each individual phase, thus balancing phase voltages which also reduces harmonic distortion leading to further improvements in efficiency and life expectancy of three phase motors, variable speed drives, inverters and electronic control cards.

Features & Benefits

UNDERSTANDING VOLTAGE STABILISATION

Voltage stabilisation systems achieve this by employing electronic circuits or transformers that automatically adjust the output voltage to match a pre-set level, ensuring that the connected electrical equipment receives a stable voltage supply within a narrow range.

This stability prevents voltage-sensitive devices, such as computers, medical equipment, and electronics, from experiencing damage caused
by sudden voltage changes.

VOLTAGE STABILISATION VS VOLTAGE OPTIMISATION

Voltage stabilisation and voltage optimisation are two distinct technologies aimed at managing electricity supply, each with its unique purpose and mechanisms.

While voltage optimisation focuses on reducing energy consumption and optimising efficiency by regulating voltage levels to match equipment requirements, voltage stabilisation primarily aims at maintaining a steady voltage output regardless of input fluctuations.

Both technologies offer specific applications and advantages, catering to diverse user needs and objectives. The choice between voltage optimisation and voltage stabilisation depends on factors such as energy efficiency goals, equipment sensitivity, and the desired level of voltage consistency.

BENEFITS OF VOLTAGE STABILISATION

RELIABILITY

Consistent voltage supply minimises the risk of equipment failure and downtime, ensuring uninterrupted operations in critical sectors.

LOWER CARBON EMISSIONS

Through voltage stabilisation, both businesses and individuals contribute to lowering their electricity consumption, thereby reducing carbon emissions. This supports sustainability objectives and environmental stewardship.

EFFICIENT VOLTAGE MANAGEMENT

Voltage stabilisation guarantees a steady and reliable voltage supply, enhancing the performance of electrical equipment such as power supplies and variable speed drives.

COST SAVINGS

By preventing damage and inefficiencies, voltage stabilisation reduces repair and replacement expenses, contributing to long-term financial savings.

ENHANCED RETURN ON INVESTMENT (ROI)

The adoption of voltage stabilisation technology offers a rapid and significant return on investment. The savings achieved on electricity bills swiftly offset the initial investment, offering enduring financial advantages.

Voltage stabilisation is an intelligent choice for businesses aiming to conserve energy, cut electricity expenses, and align with emission reduction objectives. Our voltage stabilisation systems feature advanced monitoring software, enabling customers to track real-time savings via a dedicated portal, access usage reports, and identify site-wide voltage fluctuations.
